Instructions on using ear candles
Ear candling is not recommended to use on yourself. Always get assistance when candling.

The following items are recommended for proper and safe candling.

Ear Candles:

Have at least 4 available, especially if it is a first session.
Scissors:
To cut ash from the candle as you progress. Warm scissors to remove wax buildup.
Bowl containing water:
To receive the candle ashes
Aluminum Pie Plate:
Cut a hole in the pie plate about the size of your index finger and push the candle through until it sticks out the other side about the length of your thumb. The pie plate will catch any wax which may drip.

Lighter/Matches:

To light the candles.
Small Pillow:
To place under head.
Towel or Paper Towel:
To place on pillow for sanitary purposes.
Fire Retardant Head/Shoulder Cover:
This is not essential. Use only if you feel anxious about using fire.
Tape/CD Player & Soothing Healing Music:
When possible, create an atmosphere to facilitate healing.
Proper disposal of water:
This is important. Candle stubs may be placed in a small plastic bag in the trash. Flush content of water collection bowl, clean bowl with hot water & soap. Always wash hands well.

Steps to use ear candles:

Push the candle through the pie plate until it sticks out the other side....or enough to allow the plate to rest just above the ear. Place the candle firmly into the ear. Be certain the pressure is not great enough to cause alarm or discomfort but enough to create a seal between the soft wax and the ear canal. This position should be maintained during the process for an effective vacuum to build.

Trim the wick as needed, usually at about the 1/2 way point. Hold the plate firmly and snip the candle with the scissors being careful that the ash falls onto the level plate
Remove the candle and plate simultaneously, turn the plate on its side over a bowl of water, and push the candle gently from the unlit end into the water. You may wish to cut the remaining unburnt part of the candle open to see the debris removed from the ear.
